Californication

Pinky: "Gee Brain, what do you want to do tonight?"
The Brain: "The same thing we do every night, Pinky- try to take over the world."

Some time ago I faced a very important decision about changing my job. I chose to do so, because I think I am better fitted for environments that are more stressful, forever changing and more active than the corporate ones (thanks Grapefruit for that :P). I will miss all my colleagues that I was so attached to. But, this is life, like one would say "Change is the only constant" :)

The new job gave me a great opportunity - working in Silicon Valley for 2 months on a very interesting company. So here I am, in San Francisco, CA already for 2 weeks. It's hard to describe the city or the life here, but everybody keeps telling me that is so different compared to the rest of the states. As a first impression, things are not so different compared to Europe, except for the prices, that are way below the European standard.

My first weekend here was kind of full. On Saturday I went with some colleagues to Muir Woods, a National Park hosting many Coast Redwoods (Sequoia). The looks was quite astonishing! Too bad pictures cannot reproduce the size of the trees well enough (anyway, I tried my best). After this experience, we also had a taste of the night life here, having tapas and sangria in the famous Mission District. The neighborhood is... let's say very diverse, with a lot of Latin immigrants, but very good food. Ah, and about food, in almost two weeks I tried a lot of world cuisines, varying from Mexican, Vietnamese and Hawaiian to the delicious Jamaican (you should try Jerk Chicken if you enter any Caribbean restaurant soon).

The city is very nice, thanks to the San Andreas Fault that created the beautiful hills (and the reason for the cable car to exist). Golden Gate and Bay Bridge are also very huge structures - quite good design for the time. One of the biggest China Towns in the world is also situated in San Francisco, welcoming the visitors with nice red street decorations and very cheap and tasty food (I just heard, but I will taste it soon and come back with more details). Let's see what happens :)
